  In this project I choose “design for next generation milk packaging design, and the social issue I choose for my packaging design is “easier for elderly pour out the milk from 2L bottle.

At the beginning of this project I try to design packaging more easier for elderly to open the milk bottle, but later on I found that for elderly pour out milk is diffcult movement as well. Then after my individual resarch ,after week 2 I change my mind to work on design a new experience of pour out milk which is more easier for elderly. The reason I choose this topic is because milk is one of the best sources of dietary calcium that elderly body can readily absorb, More than 50 years of age, parathyroid hormone secretion in vivo excessive, and sex hormones decrease, leading to calcium malabsorption. At the same time, elderly dietary calcium intake is inadequate, resulting in the gradual loss of bone calcium occurs, which leads to osteoporosis, bones become brittle, easily fractures. Therefore, the elderly should pay attention to calcium. Milk for its nutrient-rich, high in calcium, the body's absorption and utilization advantages is recognized worldwide as an important source of calcium food.Over the years, many seniors can choose to drink milk to supplement calcium. Older people drinking milk, six nutrients such as protein, fat, carbohydrates, minerals, vitamins and water, not only can reduce bone mineral loss, enabling the prevention of osteoporosis, but also to enhance health and improve lifequality. Previously, on bone mineral density in the survey found that drinking 300 ml of milk every day and people do not drink milk, milk population of vertebral and hip bone mineral density is 6-7% higher, respectively, indicating that milk have a good effect on prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. Thus milk is a daily product elderly need to have everyday. To solve problem elderly have everyday is important.

As the resarch indicate design healthy, comfortable and packaging. Allow the elderly

to feel psychologically Jingyi, physical comfort,visual friendly, is a concrete manifestation of full respect for the elderly designed. Such as: the selection of soft touch material production

of packaging or containers; eliminate eyestrain out Discovery Green Department of tone; suitable packaging scale, and so on. These design measures can be a better solution to bring the difficulties of life skills decline due to age, but also to stimulate and arouse the older persons to society, confidence in life, perception of a comfortable and healthy life. Design easy-to-open packaging. Touch gradual decay, the decline of muscle control, resulting in open packaging difficulties. Therefore, should be designed to adapt to older consumers need a convenient and secure open systems. In order to facilitate the open, in the shape ofthe current packaging appropriate increase in the number of tear perforations, widening the tear bar to reduce the carton / tray to use the amount of sealant to enlarge the opening valve, the use of the fine texture of the cover and tensile films. Avoid all the small and thin, thin line, rope or other parts.

Over all I found follow the age increase, elderly lose their finger movement ability, it make elderly more diffcult to squzze their finger, and carry heavy staff. What I think is design packaging can use other part of human body instand of finger movenment, such as arm. In my design user can fit half of their hand into the handle to lift the milk bottle or pour out milk by rolling the bottle. This small movement can help elderly more easier pour milk and stop damage when they need drink milk.
